From zero cycling experience to Alpe d’Huez 🚴
Tuesday 27th OctThis year, I’m taking on a special challenge together with my colleagues from Rabobank: climbing Alpe d’Huez to raise money for cancer research.
For me, this will be quite a climb, both literally and figuratively, because I’m definitely not an experienced cyclist. In fact, I’m pretty much starting from scratch. The coming months will be all about training, putting in the miles, and finding out what it takes to be properly prepared when I get to the start line. Through this page, I’d like to take you along on my journey towards Alpe d’Huez. Hopefully there will be plenty of great moments along the way, but undoubtedly also some tough training sessions, tired legs and sore muscles.
Of course, behind this sporting challenge lies a much more important cause. Cancer affects so many people, whether directly or through someone close to them. That’s why I believe it’s incredibly important that funding is available for research into this disease. Research can help improve treatments, give patients better prospects and, hopefully, contribute to a future in which fewer and fewer people are affected by cancer.
By taking on this challenge, I want to do my part, together with my colleagues, to contribute to that goal. I’ll be training hard, putting in the miles and probably suffering a little along the way. But with the reason we’re doing this in mind, I know exactly what I’m doing it for.
Every donation, big or small, helps in the fight against cancer and gives me an extra push towards the top.
Onwards and upwards to Alpe d’Huez! 💪🚴
