Waarom ik meedoe aan Alpe d'HuZes

Voor mijn lieve zwager Gilbert, die in 2018 overleed aan de gevolgen van kanker, wil ik mij inzetten door deze berg te beklimmen. Op deze manier wil ik geld inzamelen voor meer onderzoek en hoop op een toekomst zonder deze ziekte. Wil jij mij hier in steunen?

Gilbert, my brother-in-law, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He sadly passed away in 2018. By walking up Alpe d'Huzes I am trying to raise money for cancer research. Would you please support me?

Training 11 January

Sunday 18th Jan
Training has started. On Sunday 11 January we both walked 11 kilometers in the Perth area, Kinnoul Hill. 

Truth be tijd we didn't realise it was going to be 11km....  The weather wasn't great, but it is what it is. After all, this is Scotland. Jackson absolutely loved it and could have done a longer walk. Julian and I really enjoyed the walk and we're looking forward to the next one.

Slightly knackered we drove back home. 

New Year, new goals

Sunday 4th Jan
In 2026, Julian and I, will be part of the 5,500 people that walk, run or cycle up Alpe d'HuZes (a mountain in France) with the aim to raise money for cancer research. 

This is a Dutch event and, truth be told, living in Scotland it is an extra hurdle to raise funds. But...we are going for it! :) Your help is greatly appreciated!

Our training starts next week with a Perth and Kinnoull Hill walk. In a few months time we're planning to walk part of the Rob Roy Way and Ben Nevis. 

Although Julian and I are registered as 2 individual participants, we will combine our fundraising efforts. Both are participating in Alpe d'HuZes in memory of Gilbert, our brother-in-law, who sadly passed away after battling a brain tumour.
