Why I participate in Alpe d'HuZes?
Joining de Alpe D’Huzes is something I already wanted to do for some time. The idea started when I lost a family friend because of cancer. He was one of the most important person in my life, a second grandfather for me that took care of me from when I moved the first steps to when I graduated at university. He was a life coach for me and a guiding light.
The final decision to join happened this fall when I have lost a friend of mine. She was really young, mother of two and one of the most positive and smiling person that I have ever met. She was also quite active in a social organisation to raise funds to be devolved to mums and kids in needs. She fought with cancer for already some time and I thought she was getting better when I saw that last summer she attended a wedding of a friend. Unfortunately things got worse in a short period of time and she died in September.
I will ride up the Alpe D’Huez as many times as I can with their picture in my back pocket so they can feel the love of some many people that are sharing the same destiny. Both of them thought me to be strong, to be a good person and to smile always, despite the adversities. This is what I will do in each of the climb, trying to give strength and a smile to all the people that will be there, cheering for us.
I will do my best to raise as much money as I can and since June will be my birthday, I will also ask all the people that want to give me a present to donate towards the Alpe D’Huzes. Is a small thing, but I hope my contribution and the one of other thousands people that will take part to this event will help the cancer research, avoiding this cruel destiny to a lot of people in the future!
